So I’ve not really set a resolution for 2014 as such; more a general idea that I want to get more organised because I think it is not only something that is manageable if I get a system in place but it is also something that will make a huge difference to our lives.
Juggling working full-time with two
hyperactive toddlers means that I sometimes feel like I am chasing my tail. And I have so many things that I want to do and I just don’t get the chance. And then the time that I do have in the evenings is shortened by my having to head off to bed around 9.30pm – so that I can manage to get up at 5am the next day – which invariably means that Husband and I crash out on the sofa and check out an episode of Grand Designs before my eyelids start to close.
I’ve been trying out various different apps and calendars and to do lists for the past couple of years, but none have seemed to work that well for me. I often want to add to my list during the day but always find it easier to jot things down on sticky notes. So I then end up with them stuck inside my coat pockets, onto the outside of purse or just floating around in the bottom of my handbag. Not exactly a workable system.
And then I was reading Hitha’s site and she talked about the Bullet Journal system that she uses. So I read a bit more about it and it sounds like it could work well for me. I like the idea that you add to it as the day progresses and that it doubles as a journal, showing your thoughts and deeds. As I had bought a lovely, shiny and personalised new diary/to do/everything book from Buttoned Up in the middle of last year, I will start using that for my entries and see how I go.
So, watch this space for the new, organised and on-the-ball English Mamma.
