A week or so ago I mentioned that I wanted to do the “throw out 100 things” challenge this weekend. And you know what? I very nearly managed to do it. I got to somewhere around 80-85 items for throwing, recycling, selling or taking to the charity shop. And I think if I were to count all the random old Post-it notes and pieces of paper that I also chucked out, then I would most definitely have passed the 100 mark.
It started out being quite hard actually – harder than I had thought it would be. This first batch took me a good 25 minutes to select.
And I was beginning to feel quite pleased with myself.
And then I hit my wardrobe and the numbers ticked upwards and upwards and upwards, and I was ruthless.
And it was feeling good, so I became even more ruthless.
And then, and then, and then… one of the boys started hitting the other, or pushing, or maybe that was when they started throwing hazelnuts at each other (yes, seriously, that kind of thing happens with us). And it all ground to a halt.
But I am still pretty pleased that I managed to find that much to get rid of. Decluttering feels good. I think most things will go the charity shop, but I found some things that I can sell (I’ll be sad to say goodbye to my SLR but have to admit that I just won’t be using it any more – where do you even get film processed in Stockholm?)
And maybe now I’ve even managed to find enough space for a new handbag. (Just kidding! Maybe…)
