Whoosh – that’s the year speeding past. I know I say this so much, but how can it be October already? No doubt about it, though, it is definitely autumn here. As September became October, it was as if someone had flicked the weather switch – the skies turned grey, the wind picked up and the temperatures dropped. The thick coat and the woolly jumpers are out. But the past month was gloriously scarf-free and these are some of my September favourites.
♥ I gave up buying books a couple of years ago (except for a few notable exceptions: I just had to buy Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert). And I’ve recently had to admit that I just don’t have time to sit and read books these days. It was hard to admit but holiday is really the only time I get to sit and read, and even then it’s difficult. I’ve started borrowing talking books from the library. And guess what? I can find the time to listen to them because I can do it when I’m getting ready for work in the mornings, on a coffee break, when I’m cooking. And I’ve already finished one. A whole book! It’s been a while since that happened. I can highly recommend The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty. Have you read it? It reminded me of The Paris Wife by Paula McLain.
♥ When I was looking around for next summer’s blogging conferences, I discovered that Kat at Blogtacular has a podcast, interviewing bloggers. Cue binge listening to the whole first season. And now I can’t wait for the next season. I’ve loved some of the tips from the interviews, especially Kat’s answers to blogging and social media questions. And I now have some wonderful new accounts to follow on Instagram and Twitter. Do you have any podcasts that you really love? I’m always looking for new things to listen to.
♥ I spent a long weekend (on my own – yes, husband- and child-free) in London and fell in love with the city all over again. I visited a ruined church that has been turned into a hidden city garden, went on a street art tour in East London, photographed lovely pastel houses, gorged myself on brunch and ate dinner in a Tube carriage. And now I cannot wait for my next trip there.
♥ I love starting the day with a cup of hot tea, especially as the weather gets cooler. During September I was beginning each morning with a cup of Skinny Tea from Teami’s 30-day detox programme. If you are interested in trying out their teas, you can use my special discount code MAMMA to get 10% off your order.
